Meet with Registered Sports Dietitian

Be honest with yourself and allow Sonny to take a look at what a normal day in your life looks like. This will allow us to fully assess your current dietary patterns and is a crucial step in determining effective nutrition strategies.

Formulate Nutrition Plan

Allow the sports nutrition expert to educate and empower you with individualized nutrition therapy. You will learn the most efficient strategies to optimize your diet/lifestyle and perform to the best of your ability.

Set Goals into Action

Now you have the tools and resources to elevate your athletic performance. Sonny will help you make realistic goals and put them into action. With our help, you can do it!

What Does Program Include? Consult and Follow-ups

Assess

Initial consult is preferably a face to face meeting that takes about an hour. The initial consult is when I get to know the athlete and their dietary habits/patterns. I assess their current lifestyle and diet, make recommendations, and then allow the athlete to come up with realistic, achievable goals. 

Educate & Empower

After the initial consult, I like to meet with athletes again for at least 2 follow-ups that usually take 30 -45 minutes. During the follow-ups, we assess what worked for a client and what did not. They use this time to express any difficulties they are facing or accomplishments they have made. I re-assess and change recommendations as needed and revisit the goals of the clients. Other services are based on individual needs and can include pantry clean-ups and grocery store tours.

Convenience

I come to you! I can meet wherever is convenient for you within the San Antonio area. We can meet at your favorite coffee shop, public meeting spaces, or your home.

Will I be put on a strict diet?

No. We focus on how to enhance the diet rather than how to restrict the diet.

Will I have to count calories?

No. We take a whole food and big-picture approach. We encourage balance and a healthy relationship with food. Allison will educate athletes on how to make healthy decisions without having to count calories. (Every athlete will be treated as an individual, and nutrition practices will be adjusted to the athlete’s individual needs as indicated.)

Will I be told that I need to buy a supplements?

Sonny Sports Nutrition promotes real food first. A nutrient dense diet will always be encouraged and promoted. The need for supplements will be addressed individually based on the estimate nutrient needs of the athlete.

When will I see results?

While training for your favorite event I’m sure you have heard the saying “practice makes perfect,” and the same applies to changing dietary habits. Daily choices make a difference! As nutrition needs are individualized, results will also vary with each athlete. In saying that, Allison’s ultimate goal is to educate and empower athletes with nutrition education that will impact them throughout their lifetime, and promote a long healthy life.

Allison R. Kliewer FOUNDER / MS / RD / CSSD / LD

Allison is a former NCAA All- American swimmer and cross-country runner from Henderson State University where she studied nutrition and received her Bachelor of Science. She went on to get her Master of Science in Nutrition at the University of the Incarnate Word where she also served as a Graduate Assistant coach for the UIW men’s and women’s swim team. She became a Registered Dietitian in 2013 and has since worked with the clinical nutrition support team at North Central Baptist. In 2016 she became certified as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics and achieved her dream of founding Sonny Sports Nutrition LLC where she specializes in enhancing sports performance for competitive and recreational athletes. Allison loves providing nutrition counseling to individuals and teams looking to push their performance to the next level.
